Frank Mac’s is a premium cocktail bar located in the heart of the Rocks. Owner Ciara Doran’s inspiration for this heritage-listed venue was to create a character-driven bar that honours the cheeky and colourful spirit of her great uncle Frank Mac.

Our historic Irish bar previously housed a boot maker, boarding house, doctor’s surgery and more. Appreciating its rich and storied past, we rejuvenated the venue, crafting a bespoke and memorable bar designed to transport visitors to a bygone era defined by old-world charm. The original 1840’s sandstone walls of the building occupies a 120-person capacity bar which flows from outdoor seating on George Street, across two levels and into a back courtyard. 

Step into our main bar area, pulsating with energy and warmth, where our skilled mixologists hand craft cocktails while you mingle with friends. The ambiance effortlessly fuses the timeless allure of 1940’s Ireland with a contemporary twist.

One of the most unique aspects of the main bar is the “Snug”. With worn leather banquette seats to lean into, a cosy fireplace, and a layering of dark velvet curtains, it is one of the most sought-after spaces in the venue.Traditionally the Snug allowed women privacy while drinking. The drawn curtain was meant to protect the “decency of respectable” women, but the cramped spaces were notoriously used to cut shady deals between all kinds of characters.
